Tale Of Bermuda Trip In Brooklyn Steppers Sex Scandal

CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Tues. May 5, 2009: A 31-year-old head of a famed marching band has been canned over accusations that he had sex with a teen student during a Bermuda trip.

Tyrone Brown, head of the Brooklyn Steppers marching band, which performed at President Obama’s inauguration, has been fired after he allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old band member.

Brown admitted to school investigators that his relationship with the girl was inappropriate but denied rumors that things had turned sexual during a band trip to Bermuda last year.

Still investigators say they collected enough evidence, including nearly 3,000 text messages between Brown and the girl in one month, their adjoining hotel rooms in Bermuda, as well as Brown’s own admissions that the pair had grown overly close, to  bar him from future work with the Department of Education. Brown submitted his resignation to the program last month and will not be charged.

The New York State Education Department’s Liberty Partnership Program funds the Brooklyn Music and Arts Program through the City University of New York (`CUNY`.) Russell Simmons and the Bloomberg Foundation also have given funds to the Program.
