FBI Nabs Guyanese Accused Scammer


CaribWorldNews, NEW YORK, NY, Thurs. Mar. 4, 2010: A 46-year-old Guyanese mortgage scammer, on the lam from the law, has been captured by the FBI.

Ishwardat (Danny) Raghunath was nabbed around 4 p.m. Wednesday at Logan and Fulton Streets in East New York after investigators received a tip, FBI spokesman James Margolin was quoted by the New York Daily News as saying.

Raghunath is scheduled to be arraigned in Brooklyn Federal Court today.

The Queens-based, Guyanese national, allegedly recruited straw buyers to purchase homes and then submitted bogus loan applications to lenders who were left in the lurch when the mortgage payments stopped.
