Four alleged gangsters were caught trying to dispose of their injured crony on the Hellshire main road in Portmore, St Catherine, on Sunday morning.

One of the men is reportedly from the Corporate Area, while the other three hail from St Catherine addresses, the police said.

“Our preliminary investigation suggests that the now-deceased was part of a group of men involved in shootings in the Corporate Area where he was shot and injured,” acting commanding officer for St Catherine South Police Division, Superintendent Hopeton Nicholson, said.

According to reports, around 8:30am, the men were seen attempting to throw the injured man from a car when the police were alerted.

The police responded quickly, and according to Nicholson, on the approach of the police, the men left the injured man in the motor car and tried to escape in two other motor vehicles that were waiting.

A police patrol unit took the injured man to the hospital, where he died while another police unit pursued the vehicles.

The police intercepted the two motor vehicles, and the four men were detained. Their identities have not been released.

The superintendent of police said the man’s cronies could have taken him to a medical facility but opted to dump him on the roadside. He is, therefore, warning people, especially young men, not to get involved in criminal activities in light of what the men attempted to do with the now-deceased man.

“The St Catherine South police will continue to be vigilant on the major thoroughfares across the division and in the various activities to deter criminal activities,” Nicholson pledged.
