White House Believes Saudi Arabia Will Open Yemen Port After Trump’s Statement

The White House announced on Thursday it believes Saudi Arabia will remove a blockade on a Yemeni port after President Donald Trump implored Riyadh to lift the blockade to allow humanitarian aid to reach the citizens of Yemen, according to Reuters. The Saudi-led coalition fighting against the Iran-aligned armed Houthi insurgency in Yemen’s civil war imposed a blockade on ports a month ago after the Saudis intercepted a missile fired from Yemen, towards the capital of Riyadh, the report said. Although the blockade was eased, the humanitarian crisis in Yemen in still alarming, the report said.
