Six dead in Congo protest crackdown

At least six people died on Sunday when security forces clashed with anti-government protesters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s (DR Congo) capital, the UN said. Police and soldiers fired teargas and live rounds to disperse thousands of Catholic worshipers as they left Sunday morning services in Kinshasa and attempted to march to protest Congolese President Joseph Kabila’s refusal to step down.
