Republicans Win Random Drawing To Maintain Control Of Virginia House of Delegates

Virginia Republican David Yancey was the winner for a tie-breaking drawing for a Virginia House of Delegates seat, allowing the GOP to maintain narrow control of the chamber by defeating Democratic candidate Shelly Simonds, according to National Public Radio. The tie was decided by each candidate having their name placed in a film canister which was then placed into a bowl before one name was drawn in the unusual process for deciding a winner in the House District 94 in Newport News.
