Obama Shows Funny Bone

CaribWorldNews, WASHINGTON, D.C., Mon. May 11, 2009: U.S. President Barack Obama showed his funny side last night as some of the nation`s top journalists gathered for the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.

The President was quick to make fun of all in his cabinet and his first lady and even poked fun at himself.

President Obama joked that his wife was helping to bridge divides in the nation, including `the right to bare arms` while he remarked that his chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, `is not used to saying the word ‘day’ after ‘mother.’` So Sunday was a tough holiday for him.

He also took a jab at Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, telling the audience, `The minute she got back from Mexico, she pulled me into a hug and said I should go down there myself.`

But the President did not leave himself out of the stand-up `show. `During the second 100 days, we will design, build and open a library dedicated to my first 100 days,` he joked.

And: `My next 100 days will be so successful, I will complete them in 72 days. And on the 73rd day, I will rest.`

The president acknowledged perceptions that he’s a media darling: `Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me. Apologies to the Fox table.`

The routine brought mostly laughs from the 2,500 journalists, politicians and celebrities jammed into the Washington Hilton ballroom for the press corps’ annual celebration of itself.
