Normal Caribbean Hurricane Season Forecast

CaribWorldNews, WASHINGTON, D.C., Fri. May 22, 2009: Forecasters from the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration say the 2009 hurricane season will be a `normal` one.

At a news conference at Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C. Thursday, scientists forecast anywhere from nine to 14 tropical storms to form in the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico.

They said of that number, four to seven should become hurricanes, including one to three `major` hurricanes, which will have wind speeds above 111 mph.

The season will officially start on June 1 and end on November 30.
