PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunications Hon. Claret Connor, presented “daughter of the soil” local author Latoya Lake with a token of accomplishment at the official book launch of “It’s like Déjà vu with You,” on Friday last at Holland House Beach Hotel on Front Street.
Surrounded by family, friends and well-wishers, Mrs. Lake who is lab technician and pharmacist assistant by profession, was lauded for the accomplishment of her book.
During his speech, Minister Connor encouraged the St. Maarten youth at the gathering to use Ms. Lake’s work and dedication as an inspiration to develop their own natural talents. “As a daughter of our soil, she made us proud by what she has accomplished” he noted.
“Her dedication to her family and her profession, coupled with her willingness to ingeniously translate a myriad of thought and encapsulating more than 80,000 words in the form of a novel is a testament to this.
He added that the potential of how far this novel can reach is immeasurable; referencing the successful TV series “Empire” and the like.
“On behalf of the Government and people of Sint Maarten, I am extremely proud of you and wish you well in your future endeavours” Minister of Tourism Hon. Claret Connor said on Friday.
