Greeks Face More Austerity As Bailout Nears End

Athens was brought to a standstill Monday as strikes and mass protests brought on by approval of additional austerity measures by Greek lawmakers eyeing the end of eight years of bailout programs, The Associated Press reported. In the capital, protesters sprayed police with red paint outside parliament as 20,000 people marched marched in anti-government rallies in both Athens and Thessaloniki. During the vote, police and rock-throwing protesters engaged in brief but intense clashes, the report said, with police using pepper spray to disperse them.
