Funeral Set For Queens, NY Woman Killed In Jamaica

Desiree Gibbon, 26, was found murdered in Jamaica n Nov. 26thby locals. Her killer remains on the lam.

News Americas, NEW YORK, NY, Fri. Dec. 15, 2017: The Hollis-Queens, NY woman, killed last month in Montego Bay, Jamaica, will be laid to rest next weekend following a funeral service in Queens Village.

While the killer of Desiree Gibbon, 26, remains on the lam, her family has brought her body back to the US and is preparing to say their final adieu. A wake is planned for December 22, 2017 at the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, 125 Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park, NY 11040 from  2-5 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m.

Her funeral service is set for December 23, 2017 at the Incarnation Church, 89-43 Francis Lewis Blvd. Queens Village, NY 11427 from at 9:30 a.m.

The family is urging all who attend the funeral to wear bright colors.

Gibbon, an aspiring model, had reportedly traveled to Jamaica on Oct. 20, looking for work that she hoped would pay for film school in Europe and was staying at a hotel owned by her grandmother in Jamaica. She was found dead in a lonely deserted off beaten path surrounded by bushes in Anchovy, a small northwestern Jamaican town. Reports indicate her throat was slashed and her wrists bruised. Her body was found fully clothed but without her phone and a sandal on Nov. 26thby locals.

Her family has raised $38,506 of their $40,000 goal to help with the funeral.

Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department warns U.S. citizens that “violent crime is a serious problem throughout Jamaica, particularly in Kingston and Montego Bay.” The State Department especially warns travelers to beware of Flankers, Canterbury, Norwood, Rose Heights, Clavers Street and Hart Street in Montego Bay.
