Former Venezuelan Oil Officials Arrested During Anti-Corruption Sweep

Two former oil officials from Venezuela were arrested during a sweep of the entire nation in an anti-corruption operation, BBC News reported Thursday. Oil minister Eulogio del Pino and head of state oil company PDVSA, Nelson Martínez, were arrested two days after they were replaced by military personnel, the report said. Several Citgo senior officials were detained at the United States based refinery last week. Critics of President Nicolás Maduro claim that the operation is a part of a political purge, the report said.
