CaribWorldNews, NASSAU, Bahamas, Thurs. April 30, 2009: Former Bahamas Senator, Pleasant Bridgewater, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he tried to extort $25 million from actor John Travolta following the death of his teenage son in the Bahamas.
Bridgewater entered the plea along with paramedic Tarino Lightbourne, who also pleaded not guilty to committing extortion and aiding attempted extortion.
It is alleged the two tried to extort the money from the top Hollywood actor. Both Bridgewater and Lightbourne remain free on bail and face a September 21 trial. Jett Travolta died of a seizure in January at a family vacation home in Grand Bahama.
