El Salvador Court Rejects Appeal For Woman’s 30-Year Sentence Over Stillbirth

Al El Salvador court rejected the appeal of Teodora del Carmen Vasquez, 37, who was sentenced to 30 years in prison for what she claims was a stillbirth but under one of the world’s harshest abortion laws was called aggravated murder, according to The Guardian. Vasquez was working in 2007 and started to feel intense pain and bleeding and called for help before fainting, only to find herself surrounded by police when she came through who accused her of murdering her baby by inducing an abortion.
